What Types of Wine Should You Include in a Small Private Bar?

Wine is one of, if not the most, sophisticated drinks in the world, and it’s simple, yet diverse range of tastes ranges from the type of grapes that it originates from, where it’s from, and how it has been produced. Red and white wines are probably the most popular types of wine, followed closely by sparkling and rose. A good bar should include a good selection of wine, so first visit for mobile bar service, and then read on for a list of the different types that you’ll likely want to include.

Red Wine

Red is considered to be the most classic type of wine, made from delicious red grapes and mixed with a wide variety of aromas. The three reds that you should definitely consider including are:

  • Merlot – Perhaps one of the most popular and easy to drink types of red wine, merlot should be served in your private bar for those who are drinking red wine for perhaps the first time. It’s a safe bet for newbies, and it is very soft in flavor, with a sweet and mild mix of blackberry and plum. It’s also good paired with almost any dish, and goes especially well with deserts meaning that if you’re planning to serve food, it’s a menu must-have.
  • Shiraz – Also known as Syrah, this is a delicious red wine, often drank as an accompaniment to meat dishes. It’s full of spicy, blackcurrant and black pepper flavors.
  • Cabernet Sauvignon – This is a sophisticated, classic French wine with a full-bodied taste of bell pepper and currants. It’s a mix of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, and is a popular type of red wine around the world. It goes especially well when paired with meat dishes.

White Wine

White wine is made from white grapes, and is particularly popular in Europe. White wine tends to be chosen as an accompaniment to seafood or pasta dishes, although it can be enjoyed on its own.

  • Sauvignon Blanc – This wine has a light yet acidic taste, and pairs very well with salad and poultry dishes. It’s often also served as a spritz with a mix of sparkling water.
  • Chardonnay – A glass of Chardonnay comes with an exquisite taste of oak and citrus fruit, with refreshing hints of pear, apples, and melon. It’s often served as an accompaniment to seafood, poultry, and pork dishes.
  • Pinot Grigio – Also known as Pinot Gris, this is arguably one of the most delicious types of wine, as its very flavorsome with a hint of spiciness. It’s produced in France, New Zealand and Italy, with the Italian version being perfectly paired to pasta dishes.
  • Riesling – With fresh and crisp flavors such as lime, pear and apple, this wine goes especially well with pork and poultry dishes, and is a good accompaniment for spicy dishes. It’s a good choice for a bar because of its refreshing blend of flavors that makes it an excellent choice to drink on its own or as part of a meal.

Of course, if neither white nor red wine are to your tastes, you could also opt for rose, or a bottle of bubbly. Just make sure you have enough to keep everyone happy.
